Brenda Ucich, MSW, graduated with a Masters in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire in 2004 and previously received a BA in Education, with a specialization in Special Education from Lesley College in 1980. She has been involved in the mental health field since 1994, when she first volunteered at Samaritans, a crisis hotline, in Methuen, MA. From 1996 until 2002, she was a counselor at Baldpate Hospital, a psychiatric and substance abuse facility, in Georgetown, MA. There she led groups on various topics that included, but were not limited to, addiction, relapse prevention, living sober, self esteem building, understanding and treating mental illness, women's issues, life skills and communication. In addition, she was available for one-to-one individual counseling, team meetings and discharge planning meetings. During her first field placement in her Master's program, she was a member of the Student Assistance Program at Timberlake Regional High School in Plaistow, NH. She facilitated Children of Alcoholics groups as well as co-facilitated an anger management series. She was available to the students for individual counseling throughout the year. Her second Master's placement was at New England Pastoral Institute where she saw clients individually as well as co-facilitated several series of teen groups. Upon graduation she took a job as staff clinician at New England Pastoral Institute. She continued to grow her practice working with young children, adolescents and adults. Her experience includes working with individuals suffering with depression, engaging in self-injurious behavior, anger management issues and grief. Brenda takes great pride in her work and enjoys the challenge of working with individuals who desire change in their lives in order to be happier and healthier.
